Once upon a time, there was an honest schoolboy named Jerry. He always spoke the truth. He never told a lie even in great danger. His friends and teachers admired him for his honesty and trustworthiness. One day, Jerry was returning home from school. On his way back home, he saw a moneybag on the road. He took the moneybag and opened it. He saw that there was a large sum of money and an identity card inside the moneybag.  Then Jerry thought that he should return the moneybag to its real owner. He went to the owner’s house of the moneybag according to the address of the identity card and rang the doorbell. As soon as the doorbell rang, a man appeared before Jerry. Then Jerry told the man that he had found a moneybag belonging to a man at this address. He wanted to give it back. The man was surprised to hear this from Jerry and wanted to give him a reward for his honesty. However, Jerry refused to take the reward and said that he had done his duty. Saying this, Jerry went away leaving the place. The man was impressed by Jerry’s honesty. He told a teacher at his school over the phone and explained the whole incident. The teacher was very proud of Jerry’s good work and talked about his honesty among the students of all classes. From that day, Jerry became more and more respected by his classmates and teachers. Indeed, Jerry knew that honesty is one of the noblest virtues.

এক সময় জেরি নামে এক সৎ স্কুল বালক ছিল। সে সবসময় সত্য কথা বলত। বড় বিপদেও সে কখনো মিথ্যা বলত না।তার বন্ধুরা এবং শিক্ষকরা তার সততা ও বিশ্বস্ততার জন্য তাকে প্রশংসা করত। একদিন জেরি স্কুল থেকে বাড়ি ফিরছিল।বাড়ি ফেরার পথে সে রাস্তার উপর একটা টাকার ব্যাগ দেখতে পেল। সে টাকার ব্যাগটা নিল এবং সেটা খুলল। সে টাকার ব্যাগের ভিতরে অনেক টাকা ও একটি পরিচয়পত্র দেখতে পেল। তারপর জেরি ভাবল যে তার টাকার ব্যাগটি প্রকৃত মালিকের কাছে ফেরত দেওয়া উচিত। পরিচয়পত্রের ঠিকানা অনুযায়ী সে টাকার ব্যাগের মালিকের বাড়িতে গেল এবং ডোরবেল বাজাল। ডোরবেল বেজে উঠতেই জেরির সামনে একজন লোক হাজির হল। তারপর জেরি লোকটিকে বলল যে সে এই বাড়ির ঠিকানায় একজন ব্যক্তির একটি টাকার ব্যাগ পেয়েছে। সে এটা ফেরত দিতে চাইল। লোকটি জেরির নিকট থেকে এই কথা শুনে অবাক হয়ে গেলেন এবং তাকে তার সততার জন্য একটি পুরস্কার দিতে চাইলেন। যাইহোক, জেরি পুরস্কার নিতে অস্বীকার করল এবং বলল যে সে তার দায়িত্ব পালন করেছে। এই বলে জেরি ঐ স্হান ছেড়ে চলে গেল।লোকটি জেরির সততা দেখে মুগ্ধ হয়ে গেলেন। তিনি তার স্কুলের এক শিক্ষককে ফোনে পুরো ঘটনা খুলে বললেন। শিক্ষক জেরির ভাল কাজের জন্য খুব গর্বিত হল এবং সব শ্রেণীর ছাত্রছাত্রীদের মধ্যে তার সততার গল্প করলেন। সেই দিন থেকে জেরি তার সহপাঠী এবং শিক্ষকদের দ্বারা আরও বেশি সম্মানিত হয়ে উঠে। প্রকৃতপক্ষে, জেরি জানত যে সততা সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ গুণগুলোর মধ্যে একটি।
